Keen Eye for the Lost
Years spent scouring the wilderness have honed your observation skills and ability to find even the faintest traces. When searching for a missing person, you can spend an hour meticulously examining the environment and make a Wisdom (Survival) check.
On a success, you can discover one of the following (DM's choice):
A barely visible trail left by the missing person (footprints, disturbed vegetation).
Signs of a struggle or encounter with danger (broken twigs, bloodstains, animal tracks).
Evidence of the missing person's direction of travel (dropped items, discarded supplies).
A hidden natural hazard that could pose a threat to the search party (caves, sinkholes, etc.).
Confidence that they were never in the area.
If you have a trained beast to assist you, a successful Wisdom (Animal Handling) check reduces the amount of time spent examining the environment to ten minutes.
We're going to define "trained beast" as an animal literally trained for search and rescue, or your animal companion, familiar, or similar with at least one Keen Sense.
